Serese Selanders is the Founder and CEO of SolusGuard, a Saskatoon-based safety technology company built around one problem: people who work alone. SolusGuard pairs a wearable panic button with a mobile app and a centralized Command Center, sending instant distress alerts with GPS location and escalating automatically to emergency services — used by organizations in healthcare, utilities, and community outreach, where a worker's nearest colleague may be an hour away.
The company grew out of something personal. In 2014 she launched ORA, a Saskatoon startup making wearable alert devices, after looking for a way to keep her own father safe — and finding that many other families needed the same thing. When ORA wound down, she carried its intellectual property and hard-won lessons into SolusGuard, pivoting from consumer devices to enterprise safety. She studied at the Edwards School of Business and spent her earlier career in retail banking and financial services before moving into technology.
Her work has been recognized as Top Women in Safety by Canadian Occupational Safety three years running (2022, 2023, 2024), with the YWCA Women of Distinction Innovation & Research Award and the Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan Resilience Award, both in 2023. She took first place in the Saskatchewan Business Challenge in 2014 and was a Tech Venture Challenge finalist in 2015.
